The information below shows the activities that have been undertaken by the LCPG
Project 1. Cayman Development Group: 54 lot subdivision (below in red)
The aerial photo below shows a proposed subdivision outlined in red (south of Sam McCoy's Drive) that was submitted to the DCB for planning permission. The Little Cayman Planning Group assisted Greg Locher with legal support. Greg, as an abutter, qualified as an official objector through the DCB approval process. Together with the attorney, Greg worked through the appeal process during the initial hearings and Planning Appeals Tribunal. He filed an objection with the DCB on Cayman Brac in October of 2023 and attended two DCB hearings, presenting his objections in December 2023 and February 2024. Following the 1997 Development Plan, which is the only currently available legal guidance for development on Little Cayman, legal points supporting the denial of this application were presented. Once the DCB decision was published in July 2024, the attorney submitted a written brief on Greg's behalf, addressing legal arguments made by the DCB in making their decision to the Planning Appeals Tribunal in August 2024. Greg and another member of the LCPG attended the Planning Appeals Tribunal in January 2025, where his attorney, the DCB attorney, and the developer's attorney presented their respective cases to support the written briefs. After the hearing, the PAT requested additional written briefs be submitted and that has been done. We are waiting for their decision.
