The Little Cayman Planning Group seeks to empower the residents of Little Cayman to have local control of future development on this island.

Little Cayman residents and property owners are concerned about the number of large subdivisions being created here, with accompanying “roads to nowhere.”

These are damaging to habitat for native plants and animals, will lead to unsustainable development and will reduce land values for all property owners.

At the present time, control over development on Little Cayman rests with the Development Control Board (DCB), based on Cayman Brac, which has no representative from Little Cayman. The Little Cayman Planning Group (LCPG) is a Non-Profit Organization that aims to prevent further planning approvals for large subdivisions by filing objections to planning applications for such subdivisions - using legal means to push back on permits for unsustainable and inappropriate development.

Further, we support and are assisting in the preparation of an Area Plan (development plan) for Little Cayman via the Cayman Islands Government's Department of Planning "Plan Cayman" project. Currently there is no development plan for Little Cayman. This project is expected to take considerable time to come to fruition.  Click here to learn more about Plan Cayman.

The clearing and filling that is done during construction of “roads to nowhere” in these subdivisions represents loss of habitat for endemic animals and plants.
